A guardian is an energy pattern that supplies information vital to your spiritual development. It operates beyond the normal range of physical perception. Any visual impression we receive comes from our higher self via the subconscious mind. A guardian is a protective influence which assists the shaman in accomplishing tasks, and who guards him from harm both during sprit journeys and during physical activates. Some religious orders might call it a guardian angel
Helpers provide assistance in shamanic work or supply the power or ability to perform certain functions. They usually appear in shamanic journey in a non human form as trees, rocks, stones, crystals gems sometimes as fantasy figures.
A power animal is an expression in an animal form of spiritual force; it is an energy pattern that personifies the characteristics and not an individual animal, but rather the group soul of a species in an aspect of one's own animal nature. The best known way to acquire a power animal is through inner visioning a creature becomes identified as a power animal when it appears on four separate occasions. After the fourth encounter it should be asked: Are you my power animal? It will respond either verbally, telepathically, through images to your mind, or in symbols which you will need to decode.
