Rune lore is the knowledge and experience that the Northern European Shamans use to carry out their work using Futhark runes. It contains the practises and techniques used in healing, divination and spiritual evolution. This knowledge that has been developed over thousands of years, originally it was passed on as an oral tradition but when European culture was changing a thousand years ago much of the source knowledge was written down so as not to be lost and to a lesser extent the knowledge became embedded in our folklore and the traditions were passed down quietly family to family. The written word is contained in the Norse Edda’s and the old poetry of Scandinavia and Iceland and is still available in many editions. Each letter of the runic alphabet or Futhark as we call it represents energy, thus the runes give us a way to control and manipulate that energy. As those of you who are familiar with healing will know the manipulation of energy is a very important part of Shamanic healing.
